Produced out of the Nica Sueno factory, the Powstanie Habano and Broadleaf wrapper options came about as sampler packs that were mailed out to customers. The customers voted for their favorite, and the Habano won by a slim margin. Since both were popular they decided to release both. Originally just released in the Cigar Hustler store, it was made available to other retailers in November 2015.
The symbol for Powstanie pays homage to the Kotwica, which was the emblem for Polish resistance forces during World War II. Powstanie also means uprising in Polish.
Original production was a Belicoso (5-1/4x54) and Toro (6x52), with the Perfecto (5x50) coming with the November release.

The nose on the Powstanie Habano is a wonderful spicy cedar with hints of chocolate underneath. I’m not detecting anything different from the foot.
Since the cap is quite pointed I elected for a guillotine cut and found the draw to be perfect.
My initial impressions are a lot of creaminess, with baking spices mixed in. The spices have significantly more body on the retrohale with a great creamy mouthfeel post draw, and hints of leather. As the first third settles in, the post draw leather is really stepping up in intensity, fighting with the creaminess. Some spicy pepper is also coming in just under the flavor radar. At only 20 minutes in, I’m really feeling the full strength and full bodied nature of this cigar.
As the first third transitions to the middle third, there’s some sweet cedar at a medium strength level. All other flavors are above medium strength at this point. As the middle third settles in, the sweet cedar starts to take over with the post draw leather letting up. The spices along with some pepper are moving up in strength. At the halfway point the sweet cedar becomes a cedar and leather combination.
Moving into the last third, the leather takes over again and brings some earthiness and barely detectable espresso. The leather is also starting to take over from the creaminess as well. Once the cigar establishes itself there’s a big, complex spiciness with an earthy nutmeg underscoring it.
Total smoking time 1 hour and 25 minutes.
If you’re looking for a cigar that takes you to the wall with full bodied flavors and is full strength, the Powstanie Habano should be on your shopping list.
