This is the other half of the Inspirado line released at the 2017 IPCPR. I reviewed the Black here if you want to check that one out too. I was very impressed with the Black version and was excited when I learned that there was a White, or Connecticut, version. I have really started to enjoy Connecticuts over the last few years. So, let's get this cigar going and see how it stacks up.
Macanudo Inspirado White
Size: 5 x 50
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
Filler: Nicaraga (Condega&Jalapa)/Mexican San Andres
Cigars smoked for review: 1
Cigars for review provided by: General Cigar Co.
Prelight: The wrapper has wonderful, mild aromas of white pepper, dried apple, and hay. The foot has just a touch more body and notes of toasted caramel, dried apple, and dry cedar. The cold draw is smooth as silk with marshmallow and dry cedar flavors. So far, this Inspired is amazing.
Beginning: “Wow.” That is my first thought on the initial draw. So much flavor and body from this smoke. Not to mention the amount of smoke that is pouring out of this thing, which is always a plus for me. There is this caramel apple mixed note that remain in the forefront, with a faint toasted marshmallow note. Your standard Connecticut notes, but with a nice amount of body and a long, flavorful finish. The burn and ash are perfect, requiring no retouches.
Middle: In the second third, the body grows and the mouthfeel becomes nice and chewy. The best I can describe the flavors is this: raw vanilla, toasted marshmallow, and cedar. The burn continues to be spot on, with a nice tight ash which hangs on to just about half an inch.
End: Graham cracker and dry cedar notes take over here. The body remains on the high end of medium with a great, chewy finish. I should also note that the retro hale has been great. Just the right amount of spice and burn, and a great addition of flavors. Deeper flavors of smoked caramel, marshmallow, and wood notes.
Final Thoughts: As I said in my review on the Inspirado Black, these Macanudos are writing a new chapter for the brand. These are not your old-school, mild, light on flavor Macanudos. High quality tobaccos, great construction, and a lot of flavor, body, and strength. I could easily add this into my Connecticut rotation.
