The Fleur de la Reine has a nice looking maduro wrapper on it. The construction seems to be right on and the cold draw has notes of earth, with a little bit of caramel in the background. Feels like a very solid cigar, and seems to be packed with tobacco sweetness. I know absolutely nothing about this cigar, so I’m interested to see how it comes out.

Quick Note: For this review I used the CF rating system. You can view it in detail here.
The first third of the Fleur de la Reine Maduro has lots of cocoa notes. Seems like a powdered cocoa note. There are also some intermittent leather notes, which all blend very well. The burn was great, a little wavy at times, but it burned just fine and the ash was strong. Holding on into the second third.
Entering the second third, the Fleur de la Reine maduro slowly changes up it’s flavors. The cocoa and leather have left. Now there is a definite, almost licorice flavor, that I would have to call anise. It comes in strong but then backs down halfway through this third and a coffee note comes into the mix. Still burning like a champ, with a strong ash and lots of smoke.
The final third was another good one. There was a continuation of the coffee and anise flavors from the second third, which I am really enjoying. But I am also getting some really nice caramel-like sweetness notes popping in and out. Nice flavors and a continuation of a great burn, solid ash and clouds of smoke.
A very pleasant surprise here. The Fleur de la Reine Maduro is a nice looking cigar, with a band design that is right up my alley. It looks good, but at the same time, it's almost plain, in a good way. Don't spend so much on embossing and glosses on the label, and you can keep the price where they want it. Really enjoyed the flavors and the spot on construction that this maduro offered. A solid medium-full bodied and medium strength cigar at a great price.
