The Elencos series is the top tier of the E. P. Carrillo regular production portfolio. The line debuted in April 2011 with three sizes, Don Rubino (5 1/4 x 50), Acto Mayor [Belicoso] (6 1/4 x 52), and Elites (6 x 54).
Size: 5 1/4 x 50
Cigars Smoked: 1
The cigar features flawless construction from head to toe on the outside. The draw is slightly constricted but it does not detract from the experience.
The first third starts off with a general woodiness with a hint of sweetness. The burn line goes slightly wonky half way through this third. I give it a quick touch-up and it is back on track. The ash is holding well towards the end of the third and an earthiness develops.
Into the second third the woodiness continues with the cedar in the background. The earth notes remain but the sweetness dies off into the background. There is a balance to the flavor that is very appealing as each complements the other.
The final third brings the same profile of woodiness, cedar, earth, and sweetness. A meatiness develops that I would describe as a depth of flavor. Everything becomes concentrated but yet balanced. It starts to get harsh about halfway through so I let it go out.
Overall, this was a pretty good cigar. I have a hard time paying full retail but when they are on sale it is a steal. It also takes a while for the depth of flavor to develop, at least for my palate. This cigar rates an 89/100, meaning I would pick up a 5 pack.
