Review: Crowned Heads Four Kicks Seleccion No. 5

I received this cigar as a part of my Secret Santa pack from the December /r/cigars exchange.

I picked up earth, some sweet tobacco and hints of cedar.  There wasn't anything else I could detect here.

The Four Kicks Seleccion No. 5 is a 6 1/2" x 44 Lonsdale.  There are veins present all throughout the wrapper but they are all flat.  The cigar is triple capped.  The band is quite elegant, sporting a red Four Kicks logo in the middle with a bright gold band.

A nice spicy and creamy flavor on the first few draws accented by sweet tobacco.  After about 5 minutes I picked up vanilla and a savory cooked meat flavor.  Not much else in the flavor department but an excellent first third to start.

The middle is a combination of rich creamy tobacco with leather hints on the exhale.  The vanilla that was present in the first third is completely gone.   At the halfway point a pleasant earthy flavor as the creaminess starts to drop off.

The strength of this cigar starts to kick in in the last third.  A rich tobacco flavor with a bit of spice accenting it to finish off the smoking experience.

The draw was quite tight, but didn't hamper the smoking experience.  Burn is consistently even from start to finish.  Smoking time was about 1 hr and 45 minutes.

A single of the No. 5 Lonsdale size will run you around $7 - $8.  A 5 pack is about $37 and on special the 24 will run you $156 - $165.  Given the substantial flavor profile the sub $8 price tag puts these in the excellent value.

Final Word:

The Crowned Heads Four Kicks Seleccion No. 5 is an excellent cigar at a very affordable price.  I highly recommend you pick up a single or a 5 pack to try them out for yourself.
