Maya Selva Cumpay No. 15
Pre Light: Sweetness, leather, little bit of pepper
First Third: Pepper is very forward in this part and it is backed by some nice leather and sweet tobacco flavors. The more into the first third I go the more the flavors balance and I am really digging the spicy tobacco and pepper on the retrohale balanced by the leathery sweetness on the finish.
Second Third: The pepper really backs off in the second third. The leathery sweetness becomes more nuanced with earthy and savory flavors coming into the mix. There are some nice dry wood flavors in there too.
Final Third: The pepper kicks back up a little bit, but the cigar remains very smooth. I’m picking up some coffee notes. The leather and wood flavors remain. The natural tobacco flavor is also very nice here.
Overall: I enjoyed this cigar very much. The construction was excellent, and burn was very even all the way through. Never had to do any touch ups. This cigar also put out a lot of smoke and the draw was just how I like it. The No.15 shape was very pleasant to smoke. I look forward to smoking more of these. I think it’s a great take on the Nicaraguan Puro, with a lot of subtle nuances that make for a very interesting smoking experience.
Total smoking time was about 1 hour 15 minutes.
