Basel/Dubai, November 20, 2013. Davidoff transported Dubai’s cigar aficionados through a sensory journey of Nicaragua at the exclusive launch of the Davidoff Nicaragua cigar range on Wednesday November 20th. “Explore-Adventure-Discover” was the motto of the evening at the prestigious restaurant Hakkasan, which was attended by the who’s who of Dubai society. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of Zino Davidoff, the Davidoff Nicaragua “Puro” by the renowned Swiss cigar producer was playfully combined and experienced alongside ribbon dancers, gourmet canapes and exotic Nicaraguan cocktails.
Davidoff’s sensory voyage of discovery led the guests through three full-bodied tastes of the Davidoff Nicaragua cigar: From White Pepper, Spicy Wood via Dark Chocolate and Roasted Coffee Beans up to the creamy final. The 100% Puro Nicaraguan blend combines a 10-year-old Habano Seed Nicaragua Rosado wrapper in a beautiful colour, with a binder from Jalapa and a filler blend of tobaccos from Esteli, Condega and Ometepe. The range comes in three sizes: Toro (14 cm; 54 RG), Robusto (12,7 cm; 50 RG) and Short Corona (9,5 cm; 46 RG). The three formats – Toro, Robusto and Short Corona – are available at Dubai Airport and worldwide at Davidoff Appointed Merchants/Depositaires.
President and CEO Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard recounted the early beginnings of Davidoff Nicaragua with great pride, which had been regarded a ‘Mission Impossible’ by Davidoff Masterblender Henke Kelner and his team. “We overcame the challenges, marking a new chapter in the company’s history. It took 10 years of patience and perseverance to create the perfect conditions for this fine cigar. It combines Davidoff's characteristics and knowhow with the totally fascinating intensity of Nicaraguan tobacco. With Nicaraguan “Puro” we wish to address modern and innovative cigar enthusiasts, who want to dedicate their precious time to the discovery of new and exciting tastes. Especially these days, our greatest luxury is the time to do this. However, you do not need to journey to Nicaragua - the aroma alone takes you there,” underlined Hoejsgaard charmingly.
The guests brought their experiences of the Nicaragua evening to a close under the motto “Time beautifully filled”.
