April 16, 2015 (Berkeley Heights, NJ) – Cubariqueño Cigar Company announces the release of Protocol, the debut line from the newest cigar brand on the market.
Protocol will be made at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The cigars will be a small batch production presented in classic boxes of 20 and available in two different vitolas, Toro (6 × 52) and Corona Gorda (5 5/8 × 46). There is a possibility of line extensions in the near future – all in small batch production.
Juan Cancel, co-founder of Cubariqueño Cigar Company explained the concept behind Protocol.
“Bill and I are great friends and are very passionate cigar smokers. We both believe in tradition and etiquette, so, when we wanted to exemplify that tradionalist’s mentality we thought of the The company name pays homage to the Bill Ives’ Cuban decent and Juan Cancel’s Puerto Rican decent, hence the name, Cubariqueño.
Ives and Cancel are describing Protocol as a full-bodied, full-flavored cigar using a powerhouse blend of four Ligero leaves from the Estelí and Jalapa growing regions of Nicaragua. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro and the binder is Nicaraguan Habano. Even though Protocol will feature four Ligeros, it’s well balanced with great flavor.
“Quadruple Ligero sounds super strong but it is well balanced with great flavor,” explained Cancel. “It is full-bodied with great traditional Habano characteristics with a unique kick. It is complex as the cigar gets better and better as you smoke it."
“What is unique about our brand is that it’s a labor of love and passion,” said Cancel. “We are two regular guys who work hard and want to share our passion with our fellow BOTL/SOTL.”
A special thanks to Erik Espinosa and Hector Alfonso, Sr. for working closely with us on this blend.
Protocol will be released on May 16 and initially available at Berkeley Humidor in Berkeley Heights, NJ and Adelphia Lounges in Berkeley Heights, Bernardsville, and East Brunswick and on the website Berkeleyhumidor.com. Additional stores to be announced in the future.
