Icarus Brewing Company hasn't even been open for 18 months yet, and the brewery is already building a reputation for some of the best IPAs in New Jersey. Fresh off the heels of releasing Power Juicer, the Lakewood-based brewery received approval on Wednesday for For The Story.
According to the label art, For The Story is an 8.2% "heavily oated North East IIPA copiously dry hopped with Lupulin Citra, Columbus, Mosaic and Lupulin Loral." On For The Story, Icarus "decided to mess around with a new yeast (London Fog) which is similar to what all three big hazy IPA makers use", according to the brewery. The Lupulin Loral is the primary hop in the recipe. "We've done a few saisons with Loral, including Olympic Saison, but hasn't gone in our IPAs until this."
When pressed for details about distribution, Icarus informed us that For The Story will be released this Thursday alongside Brux C.A.T. For The Story will also see regular distribution.
Based off the name and can art, we asked Icarus for the story. "A Loral is a story and we decided to try out this brand new yeast with new hops for the same reason we do most things around here. For The Story."
