Lakewood, NJ's Icarus Brewing Company received approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on 5/14 for a new Pale Ale - Go Flight!
Go Flight is a 5.7% ABV Pale Ale that will be packaged in 16oz cans. Can art details that the beer is a "heavily wheated Pale Ale dry hopped with Motueka, Mandarina Bavaria, Palisade, Lupulin Citra, and Galaxy". When we reached out to Icarus for details, they informed us that they used the "same yeast as For The Story". For The Story was released last week, and continues the trend of hugely popular Icarus releases earning a 4.12 on Untappd in its first week.
In describing Go Flight, Icarus also highlighted some additional information that should make fans excited: "[Go Flight is a] super tropical pale ale to pair with our Memorial Day DDH Yacht Juice". Yacht Juice debuted in April 2017. Yacht Juice was a hugely popular NorthEast-style IPA filled with Citra, Mosaic and Columbus hops. In January, as part of the brewery's anniversary celebration, Icarus released a DDH version of Yacht Juice. That included the base Citra, Mosaic and Columbus hops, and then the beer was Double Dry Hopped with Galaxy. According to Icarus, the special Memorial Day Edition of DDH Yacht Juice recipe included "even more Lupulin Citra, double the amount".
Icarus Brewing Company also detailed that this release would take place on Wednesday next week instead of Thursday. "[We are] canning earlier in the week so we can distribute easier and get the full weekend in for Memorial Day." The brewery was quick to note, however, that "as always, it can be one or both the cans based on how long canning takes since we release day of packaging."
