The pumpkins are coming!
We've hit the mid-point of the summer, and we've just seen our first mention of pumpkin beer for the year! On Monday, Ewing, NJ's River Horse Brewing Company received approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) for a new label for Hipp-O-Lantern Imperial Pumpkin, their fall seasonal.
Hipp-O-Lantern is a 8.1% Ale brewed with pumpkin, molasses and a variety of hand-crushed, whole spices. The recipe includes Chinook, Hallertau, and Golding hops in addition to Pilson, Carapils, Vienna, Dark Crystal, and Brown malts.
Hipp-O-Lantern debuted in 2010. In the past, Hipp-O-Lantern has been available in 12oz bottles beginning in August, and produced through October. When contacted for comment, River Horse confirmed that this is a new label for 12oz bottles that are scheduled to debut in August.
