What do you get when you take, arguably, New Jersey's best brewery and add in one of the top barrel-aging programs in the world? According to a filing on February 7th with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), you get A Bird To Explore All Shores.
On October 27, 2017, Ocean Township, New Jersey's Kane Brewing Company posted on Instagram about brewing with Kyle from Horus Aged Ales. "Today we brewed “A Bird To Explore All Shores” with Kyle from @horusagedales. This is a big Imperial Stout that we’re planning to age in three different barrels; Maple Bourbon, Maple Rum and French Cognac. Look for all three version sometime fall/winter 2018. Many thanks to Kyle for a great day of brewing and sampling."
At the same time, Kyle from Oceanside, California's Horus Aged Ales wrote something similar on Instagram. "I had such a great time brewing with Michael and the @kanebrewing crew in Ocean Township, New Jersey today...We brewed a big Imperial Stout named "A Bird To Explore All Shores!" This will be barrel aged in three different kinds of barrels: French Cognac, Maple Bourbon, and Maple Rum! I am personally geeking out about this one...very thankful to have the opportunity to brew with one of my all-time favorite brewers!!!"
With initial estimates from Kane that the beer would be available in "fall/winter 2018", TTB label approval coming on February 7th, and an Untappd listing being created on January 24th, fans are gearing up for the release in the coming days/weeks.
Kane declined to provide further comment at this time.
