To celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, Lakewood, NJ's Icarus Brewing Company has decided to bring back a couple of old favorites!
First is Waikikamukau, an 8% ABV Imperial India Pale. According to Icarus Owner and Head Brewer, Jason Goldstein, Waikikamukau "was one of our first IIPAs, and is heavily Wheated + Oated and dry hopped with mainly New Zealand hops (Wakatu + Motueka) and a smaller amount of Columbus and Lupulin Citra." Waikikamukau first debuted in February 2018 with cans being released in April 2018, December 2018, and as recently as June. A DDH variant was canned and released in April 2018 as well.
Next up, "for the first time in an extremely long time" according to Goldstein, is Kalashnikov, a 14.5% ABV Russian Imperial Stout "brewed with heaps of roasted malts, flaked oats, rye, and wildflower honey." When profiling the beer for us, Goldstein says, "The 14.5% ABV of Kalashnikov is balanced by its 100 IBUs which is then cut down by a moderate body without being overly sweet." Kalashnikov debuted in July 2017, and was released in cans the following January. It has also seen numerous variants as tap room offerings in addition to can and bottle releases.
According to Goldstein, "Both will be available in our taproom with extended holiday hours starting Wednesday and in distribution around the state."
