Icarus Brewing Company in Lakewood, NJ is continuing its run of strong can releases with two offerings this Halloween - one being a completely new beer.
Neon Fantasy is an 8.1% ABV Imperial India Pale Ale with Lactose. According to Jason Goldstein, Owner and Head Brewer at Icarus, "Neon Fantasy was an idea based on a Randall from our tasting room with the base being Milking It run through fresh Lemongrass and Toasted Coconut." Goldstein continued, "we took a similar amped up Lactose IIPA base with Lemongrass added in the whirlpool and then fermented it with a brand new house yeast blend (Including Brux) and then finished it on even more Lemongrass and Toasted Coconut. This was also heavily dry hopped with Lupulin Citra, Idaho 7, and Experimental Bru-1 which adds to the overall intense citrus and ripe pineapple with extra tart being pulled from the yeast, extra citrus from the lemongrass, and extra body and sweetness from the combination of lactose and coconut."
The second can offering being released on Halloween is a rehash of DDH Not a Schooner. Not A Schooner is an 8.5% ABV Brux Imperial India Pale Ale that debuted in December 2017, and has been released in cans previously. Goldstein told us, "The second release is DDH Not a Schooner, which was our first run with Brux Trois yeast which has become our favorite in house for adding the extra tart pop on top of the hazy creamy body for IPAs. This version was hopped with Columbus and Amarillo and then double dry hopped with Lupulin Citra and Mosaic to add citrus and tropical flavors on top of the orange and dank base."
Both offerings will be released in 16oz cans beginning on Halloween at the brewery with limited distribution to follow.
