Another week, another can release from Lakewood, NJ's Icarus Brewing Company. In conversations with Jason Goldstein, Owner and Head Brewer at Icarus, we have learned that the brewery will be re-releasing Waikikamukau alongside a debuting Drinking Crayons this Wednesday.
Drinking Crayons is a new 7.9% ABV Imperial India Pale Ale. Goldstein described Drinking Crayons as "a heavily wheated and oated North East Imperial India Pale Ale with El Dorado, Amarillo, and Columbus on the hot side and then Azacca, Amarillo, Columbus, and Lupulin Mosaic on the dry hops. Going for as much potent Orange Juice/Papaya/Tropical Punch as possible."
When asked for details about the name and label, Goldstein informed us, "This was my assistant brewer, Kevin's, first recipe on my system. Label is inspired by a drawing Kevins daughter made for us to hang up at the brewery."
Waikikamukau is Icarus' 8% ABV Imperial IPA copiously dry hopped with Wakatu, Motueka, Columbus, and Lupulin Citra. Waikikamukau debuted in February 2018, and was released in cans for the first time in April.
Both cans will be available beginning Wednesday in the Icarus taproom.
