Another week, another highly sought after offering is coming from Lakewood, NJ's Icarus Brewing Company. On February 26th, Icarus received approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) for a can label for a new offering - Bang Kitty.
Bang Kitty is an 8.1% ABV Imperial IPA with Lactose, Coconut, Lemongrass, Basil and Thai Chilis. Text on the label reads, "Heavily Wheated and Oated Brux North East Imperial India Pale Ale with Lactose brewed with Lemongrass, Thai Basil, and Thai Chilis. Copiously dry hopped with Lupulin Citra, Idaho 7, and Experimental Bru-1. Finished on Lemongrass and Coconut."
Jason Goldstein, Owner and Head Brewer at Icarus, told us that Bang Kitty "is loosely based off of Neon Fantasy as that was inspired by Thai Cooking. Using that as a base, we then took the Lemongrass and Toasted Coconut one step further and added Thai Basil and Thai Chilis to the whirlpool for an even fuller aromatic profile and just enough Chili for a background mouthfeel to counter the Coconut and Lemongrass. It is based off of our love for Thai Tom Kha soup."
Bang Kitty will be released beginning tomorrow.
