According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Heavy Reel Brewing Co. in Seaside Heights, NJ is looking to continue their steady stream of can releases as the summer picks up in the Jersey Shore town.
Receiving TTB approval on May 17th is a can label for Unrelenting Relevance. Unrelenting Relevance is a 7% ABV DDH IPA "packed with dripping fresh 2018 Galaxy and Mosaic, then double dry hopped with an equal dose of Citra Lupulin, Mosaic Lupulin, and Galaxy." According to a Facebook post by Heavy Reel this morning, Unrelenting Relevance will be released on June 8th, and the brewery warns, "This one won’t last long so come early. Line to the right near the vacant building please." Unrelenting Relevance first debuted on draft in the Heavy Reel taproom in April 2018.
Also on May 17th, Heavy Reel received TTB approval for a can label for Ryan's Beer. Ryan's Beer is a 7% ABV DDH IPA that first debuted in February 2019. According to Heavy Reel, Ryan's Beer is a beer brewed for their "good friend Ryan who passed away suddenly in the winter." Ryan's Beer is "brewed with Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo". When asked when we might see Ryan's Beer released, Heavy Reel told us, "Not sure when [we're] putting that out. Some point this summer."
Finally, on May 24th, Heavy Reel received TTB approval for a can label for Apexed Thinking. An 8% ABV DDH IPA brewed with cherries, Apexed Thinking first debuted back in June 2018. Apexed Thinking is an ode to Heavy Reel's favorite boardwalk delicacy. The brewery tells us it is "inspired by vanilla dipped in cherry ice cream cones. We brew this beer with lactose, Azacca and Michigan Copper, topped off with fresh cherries and vanilla beans." When we inquired when we might see cans of Apexed Thinking, Heavy Reel informed us they are "shooting for an early July release."
