Known widely for their Exit Series which produced beers for each exit on the New Jersey Turnpike to reflect the diversity of the Garden State, Somerdale, NJ's Flying Fish Brewing Company has been on the scene in various forms since 1995. In recent years, a rebranding and an uptick in limited release modern styles has seen renewed popularity in the brewery. Now, it appears Flying Fish's plans for the month of March will continue this trend.
On February 9th, Flying Fish received Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) approval for a can label for Double Fishted. According to the brewery, beginning on March 1st, Flying Fish will be releasing Double Fishted in the Tasting Room with distribution shortly thereafter. Label art for Double Fishted lists it as an 8.3% ABV Double IPA. Text on the label reads, "Is that a fish holding two cans of this Double IPA, with a picture of himself on the label, and so on, into perpetuity? There's a lot of uncertainty in the world, but we're sure you'll find this Double IPA to be juicy. Maybe you'll need two."
When we reached out to Flying Fish for details, the brewery told us that "Double Fishted will be a limited release beer and will be heading out for distro to stores in 4-pack cans and draft. It is brewed with Citra, Warrior, Centennial, Simcoe, Azacca, Cascade and Huemelon hops."
In addition to the release of Double Fishted, the brewery is also planning two variety pack releases in the month of March - Variety 15 and Farmhouse 15. Each offering will include 3 cans of 5 different beers. Variety 15 will include cans of Hopfish, Outside IPA, Onshore Lager, XPA and Flying Fish's newest release, Salt & Sea, a session sour with strawberry and lime. It was not immediately clear what offerings would be part of the Farmhouse 15 pack.
According to the brewery, the variety packs "will be hitting stores March 1st and we're having a March 15th 15 pack celebration at the tasting room too."
