Alec Bradley Warehouse Hit by Burglars

Yesterday, Alec Bradley took to Facebook to announce that burglars had stolen nearly $600,000 (retail value - $300,000 wholesale) in product from their warehouse:

We've been holding off on announcing anything regarding this as an investigation is still underway. On Saturday, September, 7 at approximately 6:30am, four thieves cut through the roof in our warehouse and loaded up pallets of cigars into a stolen truck and got away. We're asking everyone, especially in Florida and the Northeast, to keep their eyes and ears open for any suspicious offers selling Alec Bradley products. Someone broke into our home and took something we work very hard to make and we would like to see these people brought to justice.

Cigar Aficionado followed up with a story today including quotes from Alan Rubin, owner of Alec Bradley, indicating that the thieves took some of AB's most popular cigars including Alec Bradley Prensado, Nica Puro, Black Market and Alec Bradley Connecticut and the company decide to make this public after hearing some enthusiasts were getting offers to purchase Alec Bradley cigars at steep discounts in the Northeast US.

If you see any offers for Alec Bradley cigars at a significant discount, contact the authorities immediately.

Lord. I hope they are insured.

The criminal side of me thinks that this was not thought fully through, unless they already had a buyer before hand. I mean this is a large industry but from what I have seen small in the sense that everyone knows everyone. Someone will say something and they will get caught, unless they smuggled these down to Mexico they will probably not be able to sell these easily.
