One of the most famous brands in the cigar world, General Cigar’s Partagas, has introduced a new line that puts a new twist – or wrap, we should say – on its rich, 167-year history. Dubbed “Heritage Rewrapped,” the Partagas 1845 substitutes an Ecuadoran Habano-seed wrapper for Partagas’ usual Cameroon wrapper, seeking to deliver a full-flavored, medium-bodied smoking experience.

Cigar Stats: The 1845 features Dominican Piloto Cubano blended with Nicaraguan tobaccos as its filler, with a Connecticut-grown Habano binder, all enclosed in the dark-brown, slightly oily Ecuadoran Habano casing. It is offered in four sizes: Corona Extra (4½x46), Robusto (5½x49), Gigante (6x60), and Double Corono (7¼x54). Suggested retail prices range from $5.99-7.49.

Appearance: With a stylish gold-and-black bank and deep brown look, this is a good-looking stick. There are a couple of noticeable veins and it has a slightly springy feel.

The Smoke: The pre-light aroma is rich but not overwhelming. After the flame, there is some early spice that is quickly overtaken by coffee, wood (oak), and earth flavors. The wrapper provides a bit of sweetness. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the smoke is that the second half is as flavorful as the first. The draw is moderately easy and consistent from start to finish.

Verdict: The first word that comes to mind in describing this stick is “pleasant.” And that’s a very good thing. There’s plenty of taste that’s easy on the palate and senses. In short, it’s an ideal choice to enhance a warm summer afternoon or evening. For more information on the Partagas 1845 visit www.partagas1845.com.

I had one of the new 1845 line and I think for the cost, they did a really good job. Not going to be a go to stick for me, but I will have one here and there to change things up
