Review: Black Works Studio Bishops Blend (2016)

Black Works Studio was opened up under Black Label Trading Company with the goal of “developing unique blends highlighting Nicaraguan tobacco”. To that end James Brown blended the Bishops Blend in 2016 to be a rich and intense experience.

Surgeon’s Top 25 of 2016, Introduction

This year has gone by faster than any I can remember in the past. The FDA legislation dropped like a storm cloud on the industry, but I remain hopeful that things will turn around in 2017.

My 2016 list will only consist of non-Cubans. While I smoke Cuban cigars, I didn’t smoke enough new releases this year to justify a separate list. I apologize to all the CC smokers out there.

Looking back on the year; when the FDA legislation and pending date of…

Surgeon’s Top 25 of 2016: Best Factories

Before we get into the top cigars of 2016, it’s time to get some recognition to factories that stood out.

As I look back, there’s no question there are four standouts for me.

La Zona (Espinosa Cigars):

The little factory that could. La Zona might seem small, if you’ve ever had the pleasure of taking a tour. If you were to guess at their size looking at their…
