Another week and several more cigars smoked! This week actually was my birthday week, and while the weather and a busy schedule kept me from really going crazy, I did pull out a few special sticks to enjoy. Here is a quick take on each - let me know your thoughts:
June 7, 2013 (Miami, Fla.) – In a recent expedition to Lake Nicaragua, which archaeologists feel was once a large bay alongside the Pacific Ocean, a discovery was made. The dangerous mission to find treasures of the mermaid was met by sharks and other seemingly out of place aquatic animals. On the last day, in one of the deepest parts of the lake a cave was located with treasures of the mermaid.
Among these treasures was the Dubloon, a 7.25 x 56 Salomon. The name comes from the…Continue

Hialeah Gardens, Florida (June 6, 2013) - Espinosa Premium Cigars is proud to announce they will be introducing a limited edition cigar for their full bodied 601 La Bomba line called "Warhead" at IPCPR this year. Moya Ruiz Cigars was founded by Danny Moya and Nelson Ruiz in 2012. Moya Ruiz’s freshman release called La Jugada, which is rolled at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona Factory, is what I will be smoking today. La Jugada in Spanish means “the move” or “the play”, which I am going to have to ask Danny and Nelson what this relates to on CigarChat this…Continue
If you've read any of my previous "reviews", notably the MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured Fat Molly from a few weeks back, you'll know I'm not a reviewer. However, like any cigar smoker, I have opinions and I don't mind sharing them so I figured I'd attempt to start a semi-regular post detailing what I've smoked over the past weeks and what my thoughts were on the cigar(s). …Continue

Padron is the brand that got me hooked on cigars. About a year or so after I quit smoking cigarettes, a friend on a business trip handed me a Padron 64, as I was rather bored with a bunch of maniacs drinking heavily and smoking cigarettes around a hotel pool bar. I remember being hesitant at first, as I did not want to return to cigarettes, but he assured me…Continue

I am curious to start a discussion regarding reviews and construction issues. For example, if I am smoking a cigar for review purposes, if it blows up, normally I do not finish the review. If I have to relight it five times and it tars up, the flavor is ruined so reviewing it makes no sense as the notes turn to bitter tar. So I would like to hear from all sides, what would you do in this situation?
For the reviewers, do you finish the review and let consumers know,…Continue
The Liga Privada UF-13 Dark from Drew Estate is a special cigar. It’s special in the sense that it is a great cigar and it’s a Liga. Let’s face it, any cigar that is blessed with the Liga Privada name is bound to be special. Whenever a cigar is added to the Liga line, thousands of cigar nerds (myself included) rush out to find them.…Continue
