The Pinar del Rio Oscuro in the Robusto vitola was Reddit /r/cigars cigar of the month for November 2012 picked by yours truly.
I picked up chocolate and espresso and some light cedar.
The construction on the PdR is flawless with flat veins and a rich oily brown shaded…Continue

As you may recall, I recently did a Cigar Spotlight on Emilio Cigars in which I mentioned the fact that Emilio has taken over distribution for a number of other boutique cigar companies. One such company…Continue

Good afternoon everyone. With a dearth of reviews for the past month, I thought it was high time to get back in gear and roll a few out. So, expect several over the next 10 days or so. I’m beginning with the Toro y Leon Claro Historico, a cigar I am long…Continue

Los Regalos Quetzal is the latest brainchild of Gary Griffith of Emilio Cigars and is just hitting the market. This release is the first of four blends planned for the series. Mining for information about the stick can be a frustrating exercise at this point, so it’s best to get on with the smoke.
Cigar Stats: This much is known about the Quetzal: Its…Continue

This is my review of the 601 Serie Blue Box Press Maduro Torpedo.
The nose on this was fairly complex. I spent a good deal of time with it and picked up fairly strong earth, a nice balanced chocolate and just a hint of hay.
The 601 Serie Blue Box Press Maduro Torpedo was a bit loose at the foot with some imperfections. There are bumps and veins throughout the…Continue

The Oliveros King Havano Black Knight "Mace" cigar was Reddit /r/cigars cigar of the month for October 2012.
I was picking up very sweet tobacco with equal strength of chocolate.
This King Havano Black Knight "Mace" cigar is a 6x60 size. It's a box press that is double banded. The main large band is a…Continue

I picked up a leathery earth combination with a medium pepper. Very interesting nose on this.
The La Aurora 107 Robusto (4 1/2 x 50) has a gold, yellow and white band with a picture of a lion. There was a long flat vein running down the underside of the cigar. No flaws to be found on the cap, wrapper or foot. …Continue

Waste not, want not, the axiom goes. There are some folks at the Oliveros outfit who would wholeheartedly agree. While working on blends for its popular Swag line for two and a half years, the cigar makers created a blend that didn’t make the final cut. Last year, they revisited that particular batch and deemed it worthy to release in a limited quantity. The ensuing result is…Continue

This is my review of the Drew Estate Liga Privada No. 9 in the Robusto vitola.
The wrapper has a balanced scent of chocolate and earth with an oak background. The nose isn't overpowering but definitely inviting.
This is the Liga No 9 Robusto (5x54). Like the T52 or other Drew Estates cigars, the construction is flawless from cap to foot. No…Continue

This is my review of the Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill.
There's not a lot of stogies that I get the sweet smell of tobacco from, but this was one of them. There's also a nice complex woody combination with about the same strength.
This is an Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill (7x48). There is a rich, dark, oily sheen across the entire wrapper. Flat veins…Continue
