IPCPR 2013 – Epicurean Cigars, Gonzo Vintage 2007 and AG Azul Vintage 2008

Sunday afternoon I found myself browsing the expansive humidor of the Cigar-ette City store in Peoples Plaza shopping center in Newark , Delaware. This is the flagship store of the Delaware Cigars chain which is managed by Emilio Cigars’ Gary Griffith. Jim was working in…

My Week (In Smoking) In Review - 10/29/13

Welcome to another installment of "My Week (In Smoking) In Review"!  Been a bit since my last blog as it was my first wedding anniversary and then I've been traveling a lot lately, but this has allowed me to stop at some great shops (shoutout to Just For Him in Springfield, MO) and smoke some great cigars like the Vato Cuban Blend, La Palina Mr Sam and JD Howard Reserve.  Let's check my thoughts...…

Review: Añoranza Robusto by Miami Cigar Company

This Añoranza Robusto came to me by way of an /r/cigars bomb from the generous Redditor QuikAF77. The cigar had a few hundred days of rest in my humidor before smoking. I had never previously enjoyed this particular cigar line of cigars, and I always enjoy…

REVIEW: Elogio LSV Torpedo

Earlier this year I had the chance to review the Elogio Habano, after hearing nothing but great things from fellow aficionado’s and enthusiasts.   I made a point to seek out Nabil Sabbah, the owner of Elogio, at IPCPR this summer to let him know how much I truly enjoyed the cigar.  I was lucky enough to score an interview with him,…

IPCPR 2013 - Emilio Cigars and House Of Emilio, an AF2 and a La Musa

I’m getting down to the last couple videos from the IPCPR show, and I had, up until recently, no cigars to pair with them. That’s not entirely true, I have a selection of cigars from Gary Griffith’s Emilio line and various brands he distributes, but nothing new and exciting.  That is until a box arrived in the mail last week with some new samples!  Thanks Gary! Perfect timing! The House of Emilio handles a bunch of…

Review: Drew Estate Liga Privada Único Serie Papas Fritas

The Drew Estate Papas Fritas came to me by way of a side trade with one of the Cigar Federation mods, Matt.   As a Canadian, it’s difficult to get cigars at the best of times, that certainly goes extra for anything that is hard to find.  I was happy that I was able to secure one of these for a review.

Tons of cedar here.  The fermented tobacco immediately takes my mind back to our tour of the…

Review: Espinosa Maduro Corona Gorda

I have definitely become a fan of the Espinosa lines, and the Espinosa Maduro hasn't swayed me otherwise. Big fan of the La Zona Connecticut and the awesome looking La Bomba Warhead, and the Espinosa Maduro comes in right after them. I purchased this corona gorda vitola from my local Spec's, and thought the $6.49 wasn't a bad retail price at all. The Espinosa Maduro is a nice, clean looking cigar, that fits in my hand just perfectly, and I am excited to fire it up.…

Cigarmy Commentary: Be honest. Be passionate. Be real. About Cigars

I’ve been thinking about a couple of things in the wake of a discussion on Half Ashed’s previous episode, one of which I’d like to throw out some thoughts on today.  I’ve been…

An Ora Vivo, a Macanudo, a Padilla and the Gurkha Cigar Contest Winner!

Wow. Monday was a huge day as far as website traffic and comments went. It actually eclipsed my best day ever, last December when I was giving away a bunch of Drew Estate cigars and swag! I seem to have severely underestimated the Gurkha Nation, they are a force to be reckoned with! We have a crazy number of entries, stay tuned for the winner announcement after we talk…

Review: Roma Craft Tobac Craft Series 2013 La Campaña de Panamá Soberana

Released at IPCPR this year, the Roma Craft Tobac Craft Series is the newest cigar owners Skip and Mike have released.  The La Campaña is a 2013 limited release with only 10,000 cigars being made. The La Campaña basically takes every tobacco Roma Craft cigars use, minus the Indonesian binder from the Intemperance line, and combines them into one cigar. You can read more about the cigar below which was written by Charlie at …

Review: H. Upmann Edición 2009 Limitada Magnum 48

I don’t have a lot of aged Cuban cigars in my humidor, so when the H. Upmann Edición 2009 Limitada Magnum 48 became available I jumped at the change to pick up a box.   For those of you who like to track box codes, the code on this is MOA SEP 09.

When you smell a Cuban cigar, you’ll know it.  A combination of dried hay and cedar with that uniquely Cuban rich tobacco scent.

The H.…

Review: Pinar Del Rio AFR-75

Shortly after IPCPR, I was offered the opportunity to try a few new Pinar del Rio blends and absolutely jumped at the chance. It’s no secret I’m a fan of some other cigars that come from Abe Flores’ factory in the Dominican Republic – notably, his PDR Small Batch maduro and the Biography he…

REVIEW:Cult Ometepe Robusto 5.5x54

I always hate that I rarely get home in time to watch Cigar Chat, but when I do, it always seems like I get excited for a new cigar, and the Cult Ometepe was one of those blends that intrigued me after catching Chris the owner on Cigar Chat.  It seems like the medium blends coming out of Nicaragua that excite me either have Corojo or Ometepe involved in the blends, and lately I have freaked out over several blends that…

Gurkha Cellar Reserve, East India Trading Co. and a Contest!

After receiving a wonderful package from the folks at Gurkha last week, I decided to dig into some of the samples from the last IPCPR show.  As always, the folks at Gurkha have an enormous booth and always have some exciting offerings.  I’m the first to admit that I’m intimidated by the huge array of products in the Gurkha portfolio.  I haven’t smoked a tenth of the lines they produce, but the ones I have smoked…
