REVIEW: Guayacan Maduro Toro

The cigar world is full of life, camaraderie, and compelling stories of risk and reward for those so compelled to jump into business of the leaf.  I had the pleasure of spending some time with Noel Rojas at IPCPR this year, and made a point to share his story through and interview Click Here. As a reviewer, hearing stories about a guy starting his company in his…

Press Release: Bodega Premium Blends Sponsors UFC Fighter Mitch Gagnon

September 21st and UFC 165 marked an important milestone for new Emilio Family member Bodega Premium Blends.

Top level athleticism, mixed martial arts and cigars usually do not conjure the image of a match made in heaven... Until now. Bantamweight UFC phenom Mitch Gagnon, one of Canada's nay, world's finest 135 lb'er is known for his fierce fighting style and quick finishes yet when Mitch isn't in training camp, killing it on the mat or working his stand up game, he finds time…

Review: Drew Estate Natural English

The English came to me by way of Johnny Brooke of Drew Estate.  They sponsored a user giveaway on Reddit as /r/cigars hit their milestone for users.   It had been resting in my humidor for 373 days before I had the opportunity to smoke it.

Nose:

A strong combination of cedar and rich sweet vanilla.

Construction:

The Natural English is a Toro vitola measuring 6” x 52…

Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial 2008 to 2012 Blind Mega Review Contest

The contest:

I have not yet looked at the page that reveals the cigars and their colored dot, so I thought it would be fun to host a simple giveaway. I’ll be giving away a sampler pack that includes 1 of each of the years releases to the person who first correctly identifies, on Cigar Federation or Reddit, all 5 of the release year and the colored dot it is associated with.

No entries with edits will be accepted so please post carefully. The winner and the correct…

Review: J&D Allure Habano Toro

One of the newest offerings from J&D Cigars is the Allure Habano, which comes in a Toro. I have an original Allure Torpedo in my humidor, but I have been holding on to that for almost a year now. So this will be my first J&D cigar. But, enough with the boring stuff.

I received this cigar from J&D Cigar, for which I am very appreciative, but I want to assure you that it does not affect my review. This cigar is very new and there is not any information out there, so I had no…

Amateur Review: Black Label Trading Company Redemption 5x54

Back in early August, I did a blog on the full portfolio of Black Label Trading Company.  With the company set to debut on CigarChat with Rob and Logan later this week, I thought it was a good time to highlight those "reviews" to get every primed for Thursday night's show.  We'll begin with one that I enjoyed a lot - the Black Label Trading…

Review: Drew Estate Liga Privada Dirty Rat

After reviewing the Drew Estate Liga PrivadaT52 two weeks ago I figured I would follow it up with another Drew Estate cigar, the Dirty Rat. It frankly is a little tough to find information about the Dirty Rat anywhere on the internet. The only thing I found which I believe is credible was this from…

My Week (In Smoking) In Review - 09/24/13

Another week, another set of reviews - all newer cigars to the marketplace.  Again, I emphasize how important and valuable it is to frequent your local B&M.  Not only are you supporting local, small businesses, but you never know who you will run into - two of this week's cigars were given to me by reps or owners who were in my local shop and offered me the opportunity to try their cigars.  Additionally, two of the others were put aside for me because my tobacconist knew I'd want to try…

REVIEW: Leccia White Label 650 Toro

One of the more popular blenders making waves at IPCPR, seemed to be Sam Leccia next to Torano.  Did not get a chance to speak to him, or grab any samples, but my good buddy Mark at JMG Distribution happened to gift me a white label at my local shop.  It seems like his blends are gaining popularity in the social media and forum world, so I made it a point to let this one rest until I had a good chance to experience the…

Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial 2008 to 2012 Blind Mega Review - Part 1

My journey into the world of the Oliva Serie V Maduro releases started back in 2011 when a Redditor by the name of /u/SpeedGeek bombed me with an Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial from the 2011 release.  I enjoyed it so much I immediately went out and purchased multiple boxes to enjoy and begin aging.

By the time I reached the 2012 release I had managed to acquire multiple 2010, 2011 and 2012…
