Pre-Release Review: Surrogates Cracker Crumbs

Surrogates Cracker Crumbs was one of the new releases at IPCPR from Surrogates. Last year at IPCPR, Surrogates released the Animal Cracker, which is easily the strongest and one of the largest cigars released under the L’Atelier umbrella to date. I reviewed the Animal Cracker and wasn’t a huge fan. I really thought the blend lost a lot of its luster in the large…

Review: Joya Red by Joya de Nicaragua

The Joya Red is the most recent cigar release from Joya de Nicaragua, following their limited release of the Cuatro Cinco.  For those who aren’t aware, Joya de Nicaragua was originally established in 1968, making it Nicaragua’s first and oldest premium cigar manufacturer.

The blend itself is entirely Nicaraguan, with a combination of Esteli, Condega, and Jalapa tobacco in the filler.  Available in 4 vitolas; a short Churchill (4 3/4” x 48 ring gauge), robusto (5 1/4” x 50 ring…

Review: Curivari El Gran Rey

I love me some Curivari, so much so, they have made my top lists the last two years, and I would assume will probably make an appearance this year as well.  I recently smoked this blend in the torpedo format, and impressed with the cigar, so I set up a trade with DocWill on Cigar Federation to get some more.  The one thing that sucks about Curivari, is the lack of production, which means they are hard to find.  I took a second to chat with the owner at IPCPR, ad he said his…

IPCPR 2014: Quesada

First booth Jerad and I went to when we walked into IPCPR, was the Quesada booth, about 30 minutes before the floor opened for the first day.  Without fail, Manolo recognized me from last year and came up to say hello.  I was surprised honestly, that he…

I was able to chat with Skip Martin (aka Chief Hava or aka Weasel) co-owner of Roma Craft Tobac during IPCPR 2014. Roma Craft had two new things for IPCPR this year. You can watch the video below to get all the details. I think the video is better because Skip gives me…
