COVERING YOUR ASH: XIKAR HC HABANO SQUARED

Xikar, known world-wide for their cigar accessories, specifically their cutters, launched a line of cigars in 2008 called the HC Series. In July of 2010 we had the pleasure of reviewing the Habano Colorado Belicoso, and today we go back to the well with the latest addition to the HC Series, the Habano2 (squared),…

Cigarmy Spotlight - Lou Rodriguez Cigars

Continuing the series we began a few weeks ago, today I’d like to shine the spotlight on a brand that has drawn a great deal of my attention for much of this year.  In March, I caught wind of a Tweetup to take place in South Florida at The Charmed Leaf.…

Flatbed Panacea White Corojo Bolt

Review by Robert Davis in Cigar.com

Couple weekends back, we rode the big beemer bagger down to Rock Hall Merryland, to stroll through the Pirates and Wenches street fair, where we visited a booth manned by Cigar Volante, distributors of Panacea Cigars, made by I forget who in Central America, at the behest of Flatbed Cigar Company. Truly a dizzying array of brands and sources. However, from the two I have smoked so far, I have to say that the results are absolutely and…

IPCPR 2012 – Ezra Zion Cigar Company – The Honor Series

In this video, the guys talk about the Ezra Zion Honor Series and the first release, the Reagan.  The cigar is made up of Nicaraguan tobaccos from 2006 and 2007 and sounds like another winner to me.  I think it was funny that the weird halo of balloons from another booth seemed to be hovering over Alan's head.  :-)  Once again, I appreciate the guys taking time to talk to me!

COVERING YOUR ASH: E.P. CARRILLO INCH

Most of us know that bigger isn’t always better, but that has never stopped folks from trying to produce the biggest and best new thing. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is perhaps Exhibit A of that phenomenon in the cigar world. The master blender with an extensive resume has seen the 60-ring gauge set, and raised them,…

Ezra Zion with Allen Fonseca

Just smoked a fantastic cigar called Ezra Zion with Allen last night at Cubano Cigars and Tabacco in Bakersfield ,Ca. This cigar had an excellant draw and a light taste of cinnamon with no bitter or ashey taste at the very end. I think this cigar will give the Padron line a run for its money. The price point is lower than Padron so if you are a big fan of Padron you will love this cigar. Thank You Allen for letting me try this fantastic new smoke.

In what is likely to become a continuing series here at The Cigarmy, I’m happy to shine the spotlight on another enterprising artist within the cigar world.  The gentleman pictured to the left is Scott Hicks.  I met Scott quite by chance in a McDonalds during IPCPR last week.  We struck up a…

Cigarmy Cigar Spotlight: La Tradicion Cubana

This week, I’m starting a new series of brief surveys intended to profile some of the folks I meet in the cigar industry that you may or may not be know about, but I think make some very good cigars.  To kick the series off, I’m beginning with Luis Sanchez.  Luis is the proprietor of …

COVERING YOUR ASH: EZRA ZION INCEPTION

The creators of this website, a Facebook for Brothers of the Leaf, so to speak, decided a while back that they wanted to launch their own cigar brand, the Ezra Zion Cigar Company. Here’s a little bit of the backstory in their own words:

“Our story in a nutshell… 3 guys from California who are cigar…
