Review: Que Vida

I normally go into a cigar review as blind as I can. Of course, sometimes that isn't too blind, if the cigar is popular enough. But that is not a problem here. I have never heard of Que Vida Cigars that I can think of and a Google search doesn't reveal too much more. They appear to be based in New Jersey, have a lot of facing in New York and are about a year old. As for the cigar itself, same story, all undisclosed. So, lets get to what we CAN find out.…

Regarding the Latest FDA News...

This is a message I read last night and it is a message everyone should read. The man is Lou Rodriguez, and besides being a great and smart individual, he was once in the industry. You may not like or agree with the message, but it is in line with what I have been saying and what  many smart people have been saying.

Cigar Industry update:

My thoughts, and certainly not intended to offend anyone. Many of my closest friends are in the cigar industry…

Review: McClelland 5100 Red Cake

I didn't find too much on this, but I never dig too much before I smoke. I like to be completely open to what's in store. The main description I came across, says that this isn't often found in the US. I have not looked around for this to prove that, because I got mine from a buddy. ;)

5100 Red Cake…

Review: La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet Chisel #4

I’ve smoked a number of cigars from La Flor Dominicana but never any of the Cameroon Cabinet series. I am a big fan of Cameroon wrappers, so when I was presented a sample for review, it moved to the top of my list.

Originally released as a No. 1 (6-1/2x44), No. 3 (4-3/4x40), No. 4 (6-1/4x54), No 5 (6x50), a Torpedo (6x54), and a Lancero (6x38); these started out as small release in 2007 for cigar events.

Review: Viaje WLP Exclusivo Churchill

The Viaje White Label Project is an outlet for Viaje to release one off blends, test blends and factory errors. Not seconds, just things that weren't supposed to be made for retail. They are all limited edition as a result. This WLP Exclusivo Churchill was actually a factory error. A vitola that was not supposed to be made, but 150 boxes were "accidentally" rolled, from what I've read.

Viaje White Label Project…

EPC Cigar Co's Response to FDA Deeming Regulation

May 9, 2016

Miami, Florida

Dear Loyal Friends and Clients,

As I am sure you are all aware, a few days ago the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the final rule on docket FDA-2014-N-0189, which the industry has been referring to as the Deeming Rule or Option 1. Like most in the cigar industry, we are still reviewing the Rule and considering the impact this Rule will have on our manufacturing, distribution and sales processes. However, even in…

Press Release: MoyaRuiz Announces Event Only Cigar - Civil Disobedience

Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands and commands of a government.  A symbolic or ritualistic violation of the law. Henry David Thoreau’s image was chosen because of his essay on civil disobedience which influenced the political thoughts and actions of such figures as Tolstoy, Gandhi, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Given the current state our industry is in we feel it is our duty to release a cigar that bares this name.  Civil Disobedience will…

Review: Cornell & Diehl Habana Daydream

Cornell & Diehls Habana Daydream is one of those few cigar leaf base pipe tobaccos out there. They tend to create an interesting profile that, although definitely a pipe tobacco, they do have a similarity to cigar smoking.

Habana Daydream No.420…

Review: Casa Turrent by A Turrent

If you haven’t heard of the Casa Turrent before, or Alejandro Turrent, you’ve almost assuredly heard of San Andres Maduro wrapper. Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos is the largest cigar marker and grower of tobacco in Mexico. Also well known for their Te-Amo cigar brand, they announced the Casa Turrent line in early 2015 (although they’ve been available in Canada and Europe since 2013). After discontinuing multiple lines, the Casa Turrent is the only line to carry their…
