Review: Nat Sherman 1930

The wrapper on the Nat Sherman 1930 has just the slightest oil sheen to it, with some medium veins and a bumpy texture. The ‘water-color’, light brown wrapper is rolled very cleanly and the packing feels nice. Not to mention that, visually, the band goes perfectly with my Art Deco ashtray.

Press Release: Lost & Found announces Siempre Tamboril and Fresh Roasted

A lot of the best discoveries in history have been the culmination of happy accidents. In the vein of that fact, there was a quiet trip to Santiago in the late summer of 2014 taken by Tony Bellatto (@bellatto), the co-owner of La Barba Cigars, Geno Bellatto and Matt "Cupcakes" Waris (@mattycupcakes) to the Ventura cigar factory, which was intended as a follow up to the initial blending trip for the "purple" release for the company. However, something unexpected and brilliant happened when…

Review: Illusione *G* Gigantes

First look of the Illusione *G* Gigantes shows good construction and even rolling. There is a slight oil sheen, on a somewhat veiny wrapper, with clean pressed seams. With a nice looking band, that is quite minimal compared to the size of the Gigantes. The aroma is a bit sweet, of leather, earth, cedar and tobacco. Luckily, this cigar is not as large as the name would have you believe.

Review: Dominion Cigar Black Lotus

Dominion Cigar is a Canadian based cigar company out of British Columbia. I was introduced to them at the Rocky Mountain Smokeout in October of 2014. The price point reflects the reality of Canadian tobacco taxes and will be significantly lower once they launch in the US.

Available as a Robusto (5”x52), Toro (6”x50), Gordo (6”x60).

Review: Viva Republica Jailbreak

The Viva Republica Jailbreak is a very unique cigar indeed. It is comprised of a lancero, which is aged and then wrapped inside of a 6x58 vitola that is then aged again. Thus, giving way to the name Jailbreak, as the lancero is trying to break out of the larger cigar it is wrapped in. Details below, but I am very interested to see where this goes.

Review: F&K Lancer Slices

F&K Lancer Slices is a bulk pipe tobacco which is manufactured in Denmark and comes in a broken flake. Lancer Slides is different than most pipe tobaccos because it uses only two tobacco; Latakia and Virginia.

Fun Fact: It is rumored this blend is similar to Bengal Slices, which have been out of production for some time. I haven’t personally smoked Bengal Slices, but from what I have seen, about 50% of the people say Lancer Slides is a close…
