Review: CAO Havana Daydreamin’

One of the projects General Cigars launched for CAO at the IPCPR 2015, was a collaboration with Jimmy Buffet. The two cigar projects are named after Buffet songs, the Margaritaville and the Havana Daydreamin’.

The Havana Daydreamin’ has an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Available in three sizes as a Robusto (5x50), Toro (6-1/2x50), and a Torpedo (6-1/4x52).

Review: Hearth & Home White Knight

Blended to pay homage to the iconic Balkan Sobraine blend of the '70's, Hearth & Home's White Knight is the cousin to their Blackhouse blend. Using Virginia, Latakia and Oriental tobaccos, White Knight create's a very unique and complex smoke, that while not an exact replica, it definitely has the Sobraine spirit.

Review: Davidoff Seleccion 702 Limited Edition

Davidoff has had an official Limited Edition release dating back 17 years. The most recent of those is the Davidoff Year of the Monkey Limited Edition 2016. Today we’re going all the way back to 2009 for the Davidoff Seleccion 702 Limited Edition. This came to me by way of a cigar bomb from my good friend Tim at Havana Controls.

As with almost all Davidoff Limited Editions, the Seleccion 702 was available in a single vitola, in this case a Toro Especial (6-5/8”x48…

Review: Alec Bradley Post Embargo LE Lancero

The Alec Bradley Post Embargo was unveiled last summer at IPCPR 2015, but didn't hit the market until the middle of November.  There was a bit of a delay because the line took on a new look.  With the…

Covering Your Ash: Warped Corto X50

As I sat on my porch this past weekend, I wasn’t expecting too much from the little Robusto in my hand. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard great things about Warped Cigars and head honcho Kyle Gellis, but the diminutive stature and understated band on the Corto X50 belied a mouth-watering flavor bomb with a punch! The Corto (Spanish for short) is Warped Cigars first full-bodied…

Review: Dunhill Heritage

The latest release from the Dunhill brand is the Heritage. The Heritage is blended to be much fuller than Dunhill’s other blends. Which, is probably obvious with the use of an Ecuadorian Habano Ligero for the wrapper. Produced in Honduras at the STG Danlí factory, the Heritage is packaged in a very Cuban style, from the box to the band.

Review: Davidoff Nicaragua Box Pressed Toro (Prerelease)

Every once in a great while, there is a release from a company that is a complete 180 from what the company has done for many years that catches people's attention and is truly great. It does not happen often, but when it does you recognize it. You can say the same thing about a release that is a complete disaster when a company attempts a 180, the Damaso from Padron for example. But in terms of success, Davidoff has had that with the Davidoff Nicaragua. A blend like nothing else they have…

Review: Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake

Cornell & Diehl's Pirate Kake is a very firmly pressed, Latakia lovers dream. The main difference here is that instead of adding Virginia to the Latakia & Oriental mix, C&D added Burley. The end result is supposed to be a very bold and meaty tobacco. The jar note is definitely very fragrant and I am ready to test out the waters.…

Review: MoyaRuiz Pickle Juice

The Pickle Juice from MoyaRuiz Cigars is an interesting cigar in a few different ways.  First off, it is the latest addition to the "holiday release" cigar list.  Secondly, it is the first Candela wrapped cigar to come out of the La Zona factory.  There may be a small release that I don't know about, but as far as I can tell the Pickle Juice is the first.

What is a "holiday release" cigar.  Good question.  Pete Johnson and Tatuaje…

Review: We The People Connecticut

From Marcus Daniel Tobacconist, the We The People Connecticut is a great looking cigar. It is also one of very few cigars that are actually made in the United States of America. They are also very limited in production. As the factory produces less than 200 boxes per month.

Review: Bespoke Basilica C #1

I was recently contacted by a company called Bespoke Cigars out of Estonia, a country in Northern Europe touching the Baltic Sea for all of those struggling with geography, and they asked if I was interested in smoking some of their cigars. Me being me, one who is interested in trying everything out there, said yes. At this time, I didn't know where their tobacco came from and who made them, but I soon discovered that their cigars were made in the Dominican Republic and were made by Hendrik…
