Review: Ortega Serie D Natural No. 7

This is a review of the Ortega Serie D Natural No. 7 (5 x 46).

Nose:

I picked up sweet hay and tobacco.  Not much else going on here but the nose on this has me eager to light up.

Construction:

This cigar is a flat box press with flat veins near the cap.  No imperfections to be found.

Flavor:

This is a nice creamy cigar with lots of complex flavors.  I'm going…

If you haven’t heard of Guayacan Cigars yet, you’re not alone. But that may soon change. The little known boutique blend, made by Noel Rojas, is creating quite a buzz in the digital cigar world. Rojas, who named his cigars after the Guayacan wood he used to create jewelry back in Cuba, has teamed up with Gary…

COVERING YOUR ASH: FLOR DE LAS ANTILLAS

A week ago Cigar Aficionado announced its Top 25 Cigars of 2012. The #1 cigar on that list, winner of Cigar of the Year, was the Flor de las Antillas Toro by My Father Cigars. I had smoked a couple of these a while back and while I thoroughly enjoyed the cigar, I didn’t think it to be Numero Uno in the…

Review: Bolivar Gold Medal

Nose:

A careful examination and all I was able to pick up was sweet tobacco.  There wasn't a lot of complexity for the nose here.

Construction:

Perfect construction with a nice straight cap.  No damage to the foot (likely due to the bubble wrap added by vendor).  The Bolivar Gold Medal has two bands, both of which hold the gold foil in place.  The gold foil serves to make this cigar stand…
