Recently Robert collaborated with Willy Herrera and Jonathan Drew of Drew Estates to produce the All Out Kings release.  The cigar line is distributed by Caldwell Cigars.  You can view the Cigar Federation exclusive release announcement for that cigar here.

You know the drill, smoke as many Caldwell cigars as you can this month and post up pics and a short (or not) review as a response to this message.  SOTM is all about discovering new brands and blends so help out our brothers and sisters by pointing them at some of your favorite Caldwell cigars.

Don't have any Caldwell cigars. Not sure if any of the shops even carry that stuff.

They're worth ordering online if you can't find locally.  Cigar Federation Store normally has a good selection and the COTM has provided me with quite a few.

I recommend the Eastern Standard Dos Firmas culebra and Long Live The King in the 7 x 40 'My Style is Jalapeño' vitola.  The Iberian Express Gibraltar corona is also pretty good.

I didn't appreciate the first couple of Caldwells that I smoked but I've come to really enjoy his blends.

COTM has had a bunch of Caldwell. I've got to try a handful from there.

Nice pick! I actually just found and picked up a 5pk of the Murcias Especial. I also enjoy the Dos Firmas blend. I'm interested in trying the Midnight Express but haven't picked any up.
I can get behind this choice. I am a fan of the Eastern Standard line.
That is a great choice Jeff!

Caldwell Gibraltar Extra Gran Robusto - 5.5 x 54

Wrapper: Dominican Habano

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican

The more Caldwell cigars I smoke, the better I like them.  This was smooth and had a lot of flavor.  It burned well and stayed cool even towards the end.  Smoking time was 1:30+  I paired with a Gin & Tonic sipped slowly over the total smoking time and it was a very enjoyable experience.

Caldwell Iberian Express Murcias Man In The Moon Belicoso - 5.5 x 50

Wrapper: Mexican San Andreas

Binder: Dominican Republic

Filler: Dominican Republic/Nicaragua

Source: Trade with another CigFed member

This was a full-bodied smoke with some very enjoyable flavors.  The burn was wavy at times and needed a couple of touchups, but it came from the humidor to outside temp in the high 80's with high humidity.  Everything else was covered in condensation within seconds of walking onto the deck.  The draw was a little snug but it smoked fine so it wasn't an issue.  The smoke stayed cool down under the band. Smoking time was approximately 1:20.  All things considered, it did well.

While this cigar is definitely a different beast than the Gibraltar blend, it still has that same Caldwell taste.  Maybe it the DR that I'm tasting, but if you smoke a few Caldwell sticks you'll recognize it.

While not readily available at the sites I normally patronize, you can find these online and at $5.50 each I would consider them a bargain.

Caldwell The Last Tsar Churchill - 7 x 47

Wrapper: Hybrid Connecticut Arapiraca Maduro

Binder: Dominican

Filler: Dominican

Source: Cigar Federation Cigar of the Month selection for August 2016

There have been a couple of these shuffling around in my humidor for the last year or so.  I mean, who has time to smoke a Churchill?!?

Me.  Yesterday.  Finally.

I've written before that the more Caldwell I smoke, the more I enjoy the profile.  This cigar didn't change that position.  It was two hours of what I think is the signature Caldwell flavor, a slightly syrupy smokiness.  No sharp mineral tastes or bitterness.

If you have the luxury of time, I recommend you give this one a try.

Smoke those Caldwells today.  There's a new Stogie of the Month headed your way!  #SOTM

Welp, I was planning to do a writeup of the Murcias Especial this weekend but about an inch in, the whole wrapper unraveled on me. It's a shame because I think the flavors were headed in a good direction. I'll give the blend the benefit of the doubt to try again because of positive reviews I've seen and Jeff's comments on the OR Murcias, and chalk this one up to a fluke in construction.

That's a bummer.  I enjoyed the torpedo that I smoked.  Hopefully the construction on the other four will be good.
